The excitement in the world of women’s cricket is on the rise as England gets ready to host Sri Lanka for an upcoming multi-format white ball series starting on Thursday, August 31. The series comprises three T20Is and three ODIs between the England women’s team and the Sri Lanka women’s side. The action-packed series will conclude on September 14.

A big cause for the growth in women’s cricket’s popularity may be ascribed to the Women’s Premier League (WPL), which made its debut in India. The league played a key part in spreading the enthusiasm for women’s cricket to all corners of the world.

This growing tendency is clear as the tickets for the debut T20I between England women and Sri Lanka women have been totally sold out. The much-hyped match will take place at the County Cricket Ground in Derby on August 31. The stadium, with a capacity of 9,500, is likely to be full to capacity when the two teams open their T20I series.

With more than 100,000 tickets sold over the course of the series, the turnout topped previous records, surpassing the 32,000 total attendance from the Women’s Ashes 2019.

The England-Sri Lanka series is primed to garner a huge viewership as well, creating an atmosphere of enthusiasm. Both teams will be keen to provide their finest performances in the next series. After a commendable performance against the Australians, England seeks to retain their winning momentum and kick off the series on a positive note.
