Pakistan Women’s team is all set to host South Africa Women in the home series for three T20Is and three-match ODI series as well.
After a substantial break, the Pakistan Women’s cricket team is making a comeback with an exciting series against South Africa. They will play three T20Is followed by a three-match ODI series. Pakistan’s last international match was against England in the Women’s T20 World Cup back in February. It will be intriguing to witness how the ‘Women in Green’ perform against the talented South African squad after this extended pause.
The South African team also wrapped up their recent outing in the T20 World Cup, concluding with a loss to the formidable Australian side in the final by 19 runs. Pakistan’s women’s cricket chief selector, Saleem Jaffar, unveiled a 15-member squad for both the T20Is and ODIs. Young talent Shawaal Zulfiqar, who is also part of Pakistan’s Asian Games squad, finds a place in the roster for the T20Is. Additionally, experienced Pakistani fast bowler Diana Baig returns to the squad after a six-month recovery from a finger injury.
The leadership baton has been passed from Bismah Maroof to veteran all-rounder Nida Dar, who will captain the team. This transition came after the T20 World Cup performance. The final selections were reached after consultations between Saleem Jaffar and Captain Nida.
“After careful consideration, we have decided to bring Syeda Aroob Shah and Natalia Parvaiz back into the fold in the T20I format. Their recent performances and improved fitness have been remarkable, and we believe they will bring a new dimension to the team,” Saleem said in a statement from the Pakistan Cricket Board.
