Mahika Gaur,17, who has a record of 19 matches for the UAE before moving her focus to England to develop her cricket career, has caught notice. Her impressive performances with the Manchester Originals have marked her as a rising star, encouraging England to consider her for the upcoming ODI and T20I series against Sri Lanka, slated to take off later this month.

Two exciting new faces! 😁

In a significant move, wicketkeeper-batter Bess Heath has also received her first-ever International call-up for the white-ball series against Sri Lanka. At 21 years old, she exhibited noteworthy talents in the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy, garnering the attention of national selectors. Following her steady and promising displays with the Northern Superchargers in The Hundred event, Heath’s participation in the national squad has become a reality.

“We have named a squad with a good blend of youth and experience and see this as an important series to test the depth of playing pool. Mahika (Gaur) is a very exciting talent. Left-arm swing bowlers of over six-foot tall are unique in women’s cricket. Mahika has shown consistently this summer that she is a threat with the new ball and we are excited to see how she performs at the international level.

“Bess [Heath] is an all-action cricketer who impacts games and is a great fit for us and how we want to play. She impressed in the A team games against Australia earlier in the summer, and she also provides cover for Amy Jones with the gloves,” Jon Lewis, England’s head coach was quoted as saying by ESPNcricinfo.

On another note, prominent players like Sophie Ecclestone and Sophia Dunkley have been given a break throughout the white-ball series. Nat Sciver-Brunt won’t be part of the T20I series, and Danni Wyatt will be absent from the ODI series. These decisions are aimed at effectively managing their workload and ensuring their sustained performance.
