As the ODI World Cup approaches, representatives from the International Cricket Council (ICC) are visiting Kolkata to inspect the famous Eden Gardens stadium. This is a routine check as the stadium will be hosting several important matches during the competition. The ICC team has already visited Dharamshala and will now assess the facilities in Kolkata.
The iconic Eden Gardens stadium in Kolkata will be the venue for some exciting matches, including India versus South Africa on November 5 and the second semi-final of the tournament. Additionally, it will also host matches involving Pakistan and Bangladesh.
The authorities at Eden Gardens, led by Snehasish Ganguly, have been making preparations to ensure a fantastic experience for the fans. They have constructed a new hospitality box, and the clubhouse is undergoing renovation to accommodate the expected crowd of more than 60,000 spectators for each game.
“We are prepared for every challenge. And if an India vs Pakistan match will be there, then it would be good for us. Nothing more exciting than that. We are ready. ICC is coming to inspect us, more work is in progress. We also talked with the police. They are also ready to give security every time. We are very confident,” CAB president Snehasish Ganguly told India Today.
If India and Pakistan both reach the semi-finals (SF-2), the much-anticipated match will take place at Eden Gardens. This iconic stadium previously hosted a memorable clash between the two teams during the 2016 T20 World Cup, and there is excitement to see them face off again if the opportunity arises. Sourav Ganguly, the former president, has expressed his desire to host this significant match, but it all depends on how both teams perform in the league stage.
Snehasish Ganguly has confirmed that the ticket prices will be affordable, but the final decision rests with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
