South African women’s cricket team achieved a remarkable milestone by securing a six-wicket victory against Australia Women in the second T20I at Canberra’s Manuka Oval on a historic Sunday, January 28. This triumph marked South Africa’s inaugural win over Australia in women’s cricket, signifying a significant moment in their cricketing journey.

In a momentous event at Manuka Oval, South Africa’s women’s cricket team achieved a sensational six-wicket triumph over Australia, marking their inaugural victory against the cricket powerhouse in women’s internationals. This historic feat unfolded during the second T20I of the South Africa Women’s tour of Australia in 2024, showcasing an intense battle where Laura Wolvaardt emerged as a linchpin in her team’s iconic win.

Opting to bat first after winning the toss, Australia Women faced a commendable performance from South Africa Women’s bowlers, who held the hosts to a total of 142/6. Undeterred, the visitors successfully chased down the target in 19 overs, etching their name in history.

Australia’s batting lineup, led by the dynamic Grace Harris, displayed a diverse set of skills. Harris contributed 31 runs off 18 balls, featuring three fours and a six, while Alyssa Healy and Tahlia McGrath added 29 and 23 runs, respectively. Nevertheless, the South African bowling duo of Masabata Klaas and Marizanne Kapp made crucial breakthroughs, restricting Australia to 142/6 in 20 overs.

In response to the challenging target, South Africa Women showcased a formidable batting performance. Laura Wolvaardt, with a composed and skillful display, led the charge with a brilliant 58 runs off 53 balls, while Tazmin Brits provided crucial support with a quick 41 runs off 28 balls.
