A historic one-off Test match between Australia Women and South Africa Women is set to kick off at the WACA Ground in Perth on February 15th. This marks the first Test encounter in Women’s Cricket between the two nations, as part of Australia hosting South Africa for a multi-format tour. The hosts have already secured a 2-1 victory in the T20I series.

Australia, aiming to bounce back from their recent Test loss to India, has unveiled a 14-member squad for this significant Test, with Alyssa Healy captaining and Tahila McGrath as her deputy. Notably, Sophie Molineux makes a return to the squad after her absence in 2021.

South Africa Women, having achieved a historic ODI win against Australia in the second ODI at North Sydney Oval, have announced their squad with six players earning their maiden Test call-up. The team is in high spirits, setting the stage for an exciting Test match at the WACA Ground.

Alongside introducing the Test squad, selectors have also announced two teams for a three-day red-ball showdown labeled ‘Green vs Gold.’ This move is a key component of an enhanced Australia A program designed to offer players increased opportunities in longer-format cricket. The clash is scheduled to unfold at Karen Rolton Oval from March 5-7.

In 2022, South Africa Women faced off against England Women in their last Test match, which ultimately ended in a draw. Marizanne Kapp stole the show for the Proteas with a remarkable performance. Her brilliance continued in the second innings as she remained unbeaten, contributing 43 runs to the team’s total. Kapp’s exceptional skills also shone brightly in the second ODI, where she played a pivotal role in South Africa’s historic victory over Australia, marking the first time they had defeated Australia in Women’s ODIs.
