The stellar performances of Mohammad Nabi as an exceptional all-rounder have consistently propelled Afghanistan to victory in limited-overs cricket. His remarkable talent has not only shone on the international stage but has also earned him the opportunity to showcase his skills in T20 leagues across the globe.

In a historic moment for Afghanistan’s cricket team during their third league encounter against England at the Arun Jaitley Cricket Stadium in Delhi as part of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 in India, the seasoned all-rounder Mohammad Nabi reached a significant milestone in his ODI career. Mohammad Nabi proudly marked his 150th appearance in One Day Internationals, making him the first Afghan player to achieve this feat. Nabi’s remarkable journey in Afghan cricket has made him the most experienced player in the squad. His ODI debut dates back to Afghanistan’s first-ever ODI match in 2009 when they faced Scotland. With 150 ODIs under his belt, Nabi has been a constant presence in Afghanistan’s cricketing journey.

Unfortunately, Nabi’s special day with the bat didn’t go as planned when they faced England in Delhi. He encountered a challenging situation against Mark Wood’s formidable pace, struggling to handle short deliveries. This led to a top edge, which floated towards the point where Joe Root made an easy catch to dismiss the Afghan all-rounder after contributing just nine runs to the team’s total.

Before this England encounter, 38-year-old Mohammad Nabi had played 149 ODIs and had accumulated 3,178 runs at an average of 26.93. Notably, he had also recorded a century in this format against Zimbabwe back in 2015. Besides Nabi, two other Afghan cricketers have crossed the 100-ODI mark for their nation. Asghar Afghan boasts 114 ODIs to his name, while Rahmat Shah became the third Afghanistan cricketer to reach 100 ODIs in a match against England. Rashid Khan is another prominent player in the Afghan lineup, with 97 ODIs played for the national side, nearing the illustrious 100-ODI milestone.
