SL vs PAK, 2nd Test: Pakistan is currently having a solid grip on the second and last ongoing Test against Sri Lanka at Sinhalese Sports Club Ground in Colombo. They would be looking further to continue their dominance on day 2 as well, they are having an impactful start after bowling out the hosts for a low total of just 166 runs.
Pakistan’s new approach in their bowling has paid them well after having a solid start on day 1. They bowled out the Sri Lankan team for just a low score of 166 before racing to 145/2 in reply on the stumps of day 1.
Babar Azam led Pakistan team, who already have a 1-0 lead in the two-match Test series. Batting with an approach to provide a solid start they have started well, scoring 145 for 2 on the first day. Sri Lankan bowlers would be looking to make a comeback somehow.
Opening batter Abdullah Shafique (74) and Babar (8) will resume Pakistan’s innings on Tuesday, hoping to bat Sri Lanka out of the game with a massive first-innings lead.
Earlier in the game, Sri Lanka won the toss and decided to bat first. But that was the only thing they won as they kept on losing their wicket at regular intervals. Nishan Madushanka was the first one to go run out for a mere 4 and then the downfall started. Dimuth Karunaratne got to 17 before falling as Sri Lanka were 4 down in no time. There was a brief partnership between Dinesh Chandimal and Dhananjaya de Silva who also tried to save Sri Lanka in the first Test but couldn’t. They both batted well for a good time and took the score from 36/4 to 121 before the fall of their fifth wicket. Chandimal departed after making 37 whereas Silva stood there and got his another fifty (57).
Abrar Ahmad was the pick of the bowlers with figures 4/69. Naseem Shah was impressive as he got crucial 3 wickets for 41 whereas Shaheen Shah Afridi got a wicket while there were two run-outs in Sri Lanka’s innings.
In reply, Pakistan lost Imam-ul-Haq early for 6 but they put all guns blazing and took their attack to Sri Lanka. Shan Masood (51 off 47) provided the crucial momentum and scored a solid partnership of 108 for the second wicket with Shafique before departing.
