Brydon Carse, making his debut in England’s Twenty20 international team, wowed with a fantastic three-wicket haul, playing a key role in securing a decisive seven-wicket victory over New Zealand in the first match of the series at Chester-le-Street on Wednesday.

In an impressive display of bowling, Brydon Carse, the debutant for England in the Twenty20 international match, took three wickets against New Zealand, setting up a convincing seven-wicket victory in the series opener. Playing at his home ground in Durham, Carse showcased his skills and returned with excellent figures of 3-23.
Carse, playing at his home Durham ground, told Sky Sports: “It was obviously a great start to my T20 career. It was awesome to play in front of a home crowd at Durham and put in a good performance for the team. “I tried to stick to my strengths, hitting the top of the stumps.”
Alongside him, left-arm quick Luke Wood also took three wickets, despite a challenging start. New Zealand could only manage a modest total of 139-9. In the chase, finishing on 143-3 with six overs to spare, as they moved 1-0 up in a four-match series. They lost dangerman Jonny Bairstow to just the second ball of their innings when he edged New Zealand skipper Tim Southee to slip, but otherwise, England had few worries.

This victory gives England a 1-0 lead in the four-match series. The next match will take place at Old Trafford on Friday.
