Ishan Kishan became the only sixth Indian batter to score three successive fifties in an ODI series. Former aggressive Indian opener Kris Srikkanth was the very first one to achieve this feat against Sri Lanka back in 1982.

In a sensational display of cricket, India dominated the hosts, West Indies, securing a resounding victory by a whopping 200 runs in the thrilling third One Day International (ODI) on Tuesday. With this win, India claimed the series 2-1, marking a remarkable achievement for the visiting team.

Ishan Kishan earned well-deserved recognition as the “Player of the Series” after giving a ridiculous back-to-back fifties with his eye-blistering performance. Ishan’s blazing form continued, as he smashed his third consecutive fifty in the series. His impressive knock of 77 runs off 64 balls, which included three mighty sixes and eight elegant fours, showcased his exceptional skills at the crease.

The opening partnership between Ishan Kishan and Shubman Gill proved to be pivotal in India’s commanding performance. The duo stitched together a formidable stand of 143 runs for the first wicket, setting a solid foundation for the team’s victory.

Notably, this was not the first time Ishan Kishan showcased his batting prowess during the West Indies tour. His splendid form throughout the tour resulted in a remarkable feat of four successive fifties. He initially scored a half-century during the second innings of the second Test in Trinidad, proving his consistency and talent as a prominent Indian batter.

The young destructive opener, Ishan, etched his name in the history books, becoming only the sixth Indian batsman to achieve the remarkable feat of scoring three successive fifties in an ODI series. The first-ever occurrence was achieved by the aggressive former opener, Kris Srikkanth, against Sri Lanka in 1982. Additionally, the legendary former Indian captain, MS Dhoni, also accomplished this extraordinary feat against Australia in 2019.

This splendid victory and Ishan Kishan’s exceptional batting form have undoubtedly left a lasting mark on the ongoing West Indies tour, making it an unforgettable and triumphant chapter for Indian cricket.
