The highly anticipated Ind vs Pak match during the Asia Cup 2023 in Pallekele, Kandy, Sri Lanka, is very likely to be affected by rain on Saturday.

Reporters present at the Sri Lankan stadium provided updates about the scenario there. They’ve noted that rolled-up blankets have been placed along the boundary ropes owing to heavy rains on Wednesday evening. Similarly, the outfield seems to be soggy with areas, perhaps from the rain. Interestingly, the weather on Tuesday also displayed similar conditions.

A weather phenomenon referred to as the Balagolla storm is speeding up to unleash heavy rain on the Ind versus Pak match day, maybe generating some unforeseen twists. The duel between these two cricket powers occurs under Group A, where Pakistan recorded a remarkable triumph against Nepal by a staggering 238-run margin in the tournament’s opening encounter on August 30. Yet, rain threatens to interfere with India’s opening match as well.

According to Google Weather, the probability of rain during the Ind vs Pak game ranges from 56% to 78%. Cloud cover is forecast to be widespread throughout the day. As the match kicks off at 3:00 PM IST, the temperature will be around 25 degrees Celsius, with a high humidity level of 92%.

Rain has already made its presence felt in the ongoing match between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium on August 31. A brief spell of light showers delayed the play during the first half of the contest. Pallekele is hosting both of India’s group-stage matches (on September 2 and 4), while Colombo’s R Premadasa Stadium is expected to hold six matches, including the final. It is possible that rain interruptions will be a frequent theme during the Asia Cup 2023 contests.

The much-anticipated India vs Pakistan match saw its tickets selling out within minutes of the organizers making the announcement. Despite the imminent rain danger, supporters are anticipated to show up in great numbers to witness this high-stakes showdown. If both India and Pakistan achieve a position in the final on September 17, cricket enthusiasts might be exposed to this electrifying showdown not just once, but up to three times throughout the tournament.
