On the 5th of October, Jos Buttler will be at the helm of his side for the curtain-raiser at the Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad, where they’ll face New Zealand. As England readies itself for a warm-up match against India in Guwahati, Buttler recently confirmed his retirement plans from English cricket.

Jos Buttler, the English captain, says that even though he’s reached the age of 33, he doesn’t exactly feel that old, and donning the national jersey fills him with enormous pleasure. He’s offered indications that his retirement from international cricket might not be on the horizon anytime soon. Buttler is thrilled about leading his team in cricket’s most famous tournament, the World Cup. His familiarization with Indian conditions from earlier experiences adds to his excitement.

Not feeling like 33 years old Says Jos Buttler

Talking about his retirement and future plan to Mail Sport, the English skipper said, “Hopefully, I will continue playing for England for some time, despite recently turning 33, I don’t feel that age. Representing your country is a massive honour, and I don’t take it lightly.”

During his 12-year international career, Jos Buttler has represented England in 57 Test matches, 169 ODIs, and 109 T20Is. His journey began with a T20I debut against India in 2011, which took place at Manchester.

Buttler still hopes to improve his game abilities after playing more than 300 International games for England.

“However, I am also quite composed about it. I am excited about what lies ahead. There are still areas where I want to enhance my skills and grow as a player which is a positive source of motivation,” he further added.

England has clinched the World Cup just once in its rich history. Despite being the birthplace of the game, England’s cricket triumphs have been relatively scarce, with only three ICC titles under their belt. The forthcoming title defense campaign might pose challenges for England’s players, particularly given the unfamiliar conditions they may encounter in India. One area where England is seeking improvement is their pace bowling attack, as they aim to shore up this weakness ahead of the mega event.
