The Indian cricket team’s captain and energetic batsman, Rohit Sharma, recently received a punishment from the traffic police for exceeding 200 kilometers per hour while driving on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway.

As reported by Pune Mirror, Rohit Sharma made the travel from Mumbai to Pune, where India’s forthcoming match against Bangladesh is planned. Notably, the team’s last game took place in Ahmedabad against Pakistan. To return home from Ahmedabad, Rohit Sharma chose for a Pawan Hans chopper. After spending a few days with his family in Mumbai, he started out on the road to Pune.

However, on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway, his car’s speed exceeded 200 kilometers per hour, clearly violating traffic restrictions. This event sparked criticism from fans concerned about his safety and that of others, especially when he was guiding the national team in the home World Cup. It didn’t take long for fans to remember Rishabh Pant’s terrifying vehicle accident in December of last year, in which Pant luckily survived.

At 36 years of age, he’s been absolutely brilliant at the current World Cup. He holds the record as India’s top run-scorer in the competition up to this time. Sharma has scored an amazing 217 runs from three innings, having an impressive average of 72.33 and a fast strike rate of 141.83. Notably, he’s also picked up a century and a half-century in his name.

The Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune is where Team India is preparing to play Bangladesh on Thursday. With three victories in the league stage, the Indian team’s journey through this competition has been incredible. After defeating Australia in Chennai to start the season, they defeated Afghanistan in Delhi, and in the third league game in Ahmedabad, they triumphed over their bitter rivals, Pakistan.
