India’s cricket team has been on fire, triumphing in all nine matches and securing a spot in the semi-finals. Their unbeaten streak is impressive. The burning question on everyone’s mind is whether India can maintain this winning momentum and clinch their third World title, or if they’ll face the familiar heartbreak in the knockout stages. The excitement is building, and cricket enthusiasts are eagerly awaiting the outcome.

Viv Richards, the legendary West Indies cricketer, has shared his perspective on the Indian cricket team. Richards advocates for a positive approach from India, regardless of the circumstances, to break their ICC trophy drought in the ongoing tournament. He emphasizes the importance of India maintaining an undefeated record and securing their third world title, following their victories in 1983 and 2011.

India has been impressive throughout the competition, securing victories against every opponent. Yet, the real test lies ahead in the knockout games. Despite participating in numerous knockout matches over the last decade, Team India hasn’t clinched a single ICC title.  Richards feels that this could be India’s tournament. He said, “India have a mindset that they can go all the way playing like this.”

West Indies legend added, “I believe they can go all the way unbeaten, which is really something to strive for. There may be some fears of ‘we have played so well so far, there may be a bad game around the corner in the semi-final’. They have to try and nullify those and banish any negative thoughts.” From this point onward, it’s going to be a test of composure, considering that India has delivered the finest cricket performance in this tournament.

Much hinges on Virat Kohli’s performance in the upcoming matches. As India’s top run-scorer, he’s the go-to player for big moments. Richards admires Kohli for his attitude and on-field prowess, expressing himself as a staunch fan of the Indian captain. He said, “Virat is a go-getter and what sets him apart is his mental strength.” The legend also named Shubman Gill, who can be the game-changer for the team and will be the player to watch out for.
