Quinton de Kock has a special fondness for batting in India. He boasts an impressive track record on Indian pitches, often turning his half-centuries into centuries. In the current ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, he’s already registered three remarkable centuries, showcasing his exceptional form on the subcontinent.

The Southpaw batsman has emerged as the highest run-scorer in the current competition, reaching a century against Bangladesh at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. De Kock’s journey in the competition kicked off with back-to-back hundreds against Sri Lanka and Australia, respectively. He seemed somewhat out of sync before the competition began, but his performance has been nothing short of remarkable since his arrival in India. De Kock etched his name in the record books with his most recent century in Delhi.

Quinton de Kock’s latest century arrived in style, taking precisely 100 balls. This remarkable feat marks his third hundred in this competition, making him the first player from his country to achieve such a feat within a single World Cup edition. It’s worth noting that AB de Villiers had notched up two centuries during the 2011 World Cup. Given his current form, boasting three centuries in just five games, de Kock seems poised to challenge Rohit Sharma’s record of five hundreds.

In the grand scheme of things, this recent century also happens to be de Kock’s 20th in ODI cricket. What’s truly impressive is the speed at which he’s reached this milestone, becoming the second-fastest South African batsman to do so. Surpassing the record held by AB de Villiers, who required 175 innings to reach 20 ODI hundreds, de Kock achieved the same feat in a mere 150 innings. The only one to outpace him in this regard is Hashim Amla, who accomplished it in a blistering 108 innings.

However, Amla holds the title of being the quickest overall. Quinton de Kock has secured the fourth position in the overall list of reaching 20 ODI centuries, trailing only Virat Kohli (133) and David Warner (142). De Kock, a southpaw, had declared his retirement from ODIs following the World Cup’s conclusion. His commitment to his team’s success is evident in his exceptional performance.
