In a nail-biting World Cup showdown, South Africa clinched a heart-pounding victory against Pakistan, sealing the deal with a one-wicket win that had cricket fans holding their breath. It was Keshav Maharaj who ultimately snatched the victory, delivering a crucial four to secure the win for his team, leaving everyone on the edge of their seats.

In a tense face-off at Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium, Pakistan found themselves in a high-stakes showdown against South Africa. With a string of three consecutive losses, the Men in Green were in dire need of a win to stay in the running for a spot in the World Cup semifinals. This crucial match was a do-or-die situation, burdened with enormous pressure and the weight of expectations.

Pakistan’s batting lineup had a tough day, struggling to make a significant impact. At one point, they were in trouble at 141 for 5, and hopes of setting a competitive total seemed dim. However, Saud Shakeel and Shadab Khan teamed up to stabilize the innings with a partnership of over fifty runs. Unfortunately, they couldn’t finish strong, and Pakistan lost their last five wickets for just 45 runs, ending their innings at 270.

In response, the Proteas showed determination in their run chase, proving their resolve to secure a victory. They successfully chased down the target in the 48th over. It wasn’t a smooth path to victory, though. At 235 for 5, they seemed to be cruising towards the target, but then lost four wickets, including Aiden Markram, who was well-set, and found themselves at 260 for 9. However, Keshav Maharaj and Tabraiz Shamsi kept their composure, sharing an unbeaten 11-run partnership to steer their team to victory.

In the world of cricket, lighthearted banter is not uncommon, and Iceland Cricket joined in on the fun. After Pakistan’s loss, they took to their social media account and playfully poked fun at the team. They posted a tongue-in-cheek message on social media, suggesting that Pakistan might want to consider leaving global tournaments like the World Cup and instead have a friendly tri-series with Iceland.

They tweeted, “The 1992 World Cup finalists should leave this silly global tournament and play a tri-series with us. It will be good for the development of the game and get the statistics back in order.
