Pakistan’s readiness for their forthcoming match in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 against Australia has encountered a roadblock, with the tragic news that multiple important players have become ill with illness while in Bengaluru.
According to recent reports, a group of four to five players has tragically fallen ill with serious chest infections, resulting in high fevers and major illness. Among those affected are well-known players, like Shaheen Afridi, Abdullah Shafique, Zaman Khan, and Usama Mir.
Shaheen Afridi was tragically stricken by a bacterial infection, causing him to quickly seek medical assistance. He is currently receiving antibiotic drips to aid with his rehabilitation. Similarly, Shafique has also been troubled by a serious high fever and is presently under the watchful monitoring of medical authorities.
According to a report, Zaman Khan has recently joined the list of affected players, along with Usama Mir, who has been dealing with the condition for five days and is currently in quarantine as a precautionary measure, there’s word of Fakhar Zaman experiencing a knee ailment, which he’s addressed to the team. The availability of these players for the forthcoming match on Friday remains doubtful. It’s worth noting that all of Mir’s medical tests have come back with negative results. The media manager for the Pakistan cricket team has also shared that the cricketers are showing signs of improvement and are on their way to recovery.
According to the Pakistan media manager, “Some players fell ill in the past few days, but most of them have made a full recovery. Those who are still on a path to recovery are under the watchful eye of the team’s medical panel.”
The Pakistan cricket team decided to skip their Tuesday practice session due to ongoing fitness concerns. They’ve rescheduled their practice for Wednesday, planning to devote a good three hours to prepare. It’s reminiscent of when India faced a viral outbreak in their camp, with Ishan Kishan falling ill from viral fever just before the final ODI against Australia in Rajkot. And, during the 2023 World Cup, Shubman Gill had a tough time dealing with dengue.
