The ICC Cricket World Cup, a stage graced by the game’s elite, has often seen bowlers etch their names in the record books with their milestones. A golden event in this regard emerged during the 2023 World Cup encounter between India and Australia, when the renowned Australian fast bowler, Mitchell Starc, etched his name in the chronicles of cricket history.

Mitchell Starc, the sensational Australian pace bowler, achieved a remarkable milestone by becoming the quickest bowler to secure 50 wickets in the history of the ODI Cricket World Cup. Prior to this, the legendary Sri Lankan fast bowler, Lasith Malinga, held the record for achieving the fastest 50 wickets in World Cup history. Malinga’s achievement was undeniably awe-inspiring, but it’s a testament to the dynamic nature of cricket that records are continually challenged and surpassed.

Starc’s amazing performance occurred in a vital ICC Cricket World Cup match against India. His 50th wicket in the tournament was none other than Ishan Kishan. Starc, recognized for his destructive speed and unfailing accuracy in landing the ball, produced a delivery that left Kishan absolutely puzzled. The ball beautifully curved outside the off-stump, producing a small edge off Kishan’s bat. With this dismissal, Starc achieved a milestone of 50 World Cup wickets in just 19 matches, overtaking Lasith Malinga’s previous mark of 25 matches.
