Virat Kohli, the renowned Indian cricketing legend, notched up his 48th One Day International (ODI) century during a thrilling match against Bangladesh in the 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup. This remarkable achievement is destined to be forever celebrated in the rich tapestry of cricket history, as Kohli played a pivotal role in guiding India to a resounding victory. Kevin Pietersen, the esteemed former England cricketer and a highly regarded figure in the world of cricket, expressed his heartfelt admiration for Kohli’s latest century in the World Cup 2023.

It came as no surprise that Kohli delivered an outstanding performance, especially following the strong start by the Indian openers. He showed remarkable focus and composure, ending the match with a brilliant 103 not out from just 97 balls. The standout moment of his innings was when he achieved the coveted century with a powerful six, securing India’s victory with a touch of elegance and flair.

In a pivotal moment of the game, Virat Kohli found himself needing 15 runs to reach his century, while India required the same number of runs for a victorious finish. What’s intriguing is that the right-handed batsman made the deliberate choice to pursue his century and secure the win himself, opting not to take singles even with KL Rahul standing at the non-striker’s end. He would only consider taking singles when absolutely necessary, often waiting until the last ball of an over if he hadn’t managed to hit a boundary.

It’s worth highlighting that later on, Rahul clarified that it was his own suggestion for Kohli to chase his century, and the cricketer from Delhi himself was somewhat hesitant about the decision. Nevertheless, this move by Kohli left many cricket fans dissatisfied, and he faced a significant amount of trolling as a result.

Nonetheless, the path to this incredible comeback was not without its difficulties. Between 2019 and 2021, Virat Kohli faced a persistent period of poor form, failing to score a single century. Many critics and skeptics began to question his abilities and wondered if he could ever make a triumphant return to form.

Former England cricketer Kevin Pietersen, a highly regarded figure in the world of cricket, offered his heartfelt admiration for Virat Kohli’s recent century against Bangladesh in the 2023 World Cup and shut down all the trollers who were demoralisingly trolling Virat for his selfish knock. In a heartfelt tweet, he said, “Remember when people wrote off Virat not so long ago? Keep being the best, buddy! ❤️”
