The sensational young pacer for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), Mayank Yadav, clinched the Player of the Match (POTM) award in the match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). It was his second consecutive POTM award in the IPL 2024.

Mayank Yadav has been turning heads with his blistering pace in the ongoing IPL 2024, in the matches against PBKS and RCB, earning two consecutive Player of the Match awards and sparking conversations across the IPL circuit. With a total of six wickets in just two games, he’s now sitting comfortably in the second spot in the race for the IPL 2024 Purple Cap.

In his latest showdown against RCB, Mayank Yadav once again showcased his prowess. The young right-arm pacer delivered an impressive spell, taking three crucial wickets while conceding only 14 runs in his four overs. His performance played a pivotal role in Lucknow Super Giants’ defense of their 181-run total against RCB.

Yadav’s mastery over the ball was evident as he dismantled RCB’s middle-order, dismissing key batsmen like Rajat Patidar, Glenn Maxwell, and Cameron Green. Notably, he sent Glenn Maxwell packing without scoring a run and restricted Cameron Green to just 9 runs. These breakthroughs were pivotal moments in the clash between RCB and LSG.

Following his exceptional performance, Mayank Yadav etched his name into the IPL history books by becoming the first player ever to clinch back-to-back Player of the Match awards in his first two appearances. This remarkable feat is a testament to his skill and determination, setting a high bar for future players to match.

Yadav’s journey in the IPL began with a bang in the match against Punjab Kings, where he showcased his talent with a three-wicket haul. His stellar performance earned him the Player of the Match award as he played a crucial role in LSG’s victory by 21 runs.

With six wickets in just two games, Mayank Yadav has made an electrifying start to his IPL career in 2024. Sporting an impressive average of 6.83 and a superb economy rate of 5.13, the young bowler from Delhi is currently the second-highest wicket-taker in IPL 2024, trailing only behind CSK’s Mustafizur Rahman.
