In his maiden appearance for the Indian Test team, Sarfaraz Khan stole the limelight with a stellar performance, showcasing his talent and living up to the high expectations. However, the euphoria took a somber turn when an unfortunate mix-up with Ravindra Jadeja led to Sarfaraz’s run-out.

During the 82nd over’s final ball, Jadeja played a drive to mid-on and initially called for a run, only to change his mind immediately. Sarfaraz Khan was caught off guard and had no chance of making it back, and Mark Wood’s accurate throw sealed his dismissal.

The mix-up was primarily attributed to Jadeja’s eagerness to reach his century, and Sarfaraz, in a supportive move, sacrificed his wicket for the senior player. Despite this, the aftermath saw Jadeja facing criticism, with even captain Rohit Sharma expressing disappointment.

In response to the backlash, Jadeja took to his Instagram account to publicly apologize to Sarfaraz. He shared a story acknowledging his mistake and expressing remorse for getting his partner out. The incident highlighted the emotional aspect of the game, where camaraderie and sportsmanship sometimes take precedence over individual achievements.

“Feeling bad for Sarfaraz Khan. It was my wrong fall. Well played,” Ravindra Jadeja posted on his Instagram story.

Sarfaraz Khan made an impressive debut, showcasing his talent with a well-crafted half-century. His innings of 62 runs off 66 balls included 9 boundaries and 1 six, contributing significantly to the team’s strong position. Partnering with Ravindra Jadeja, they amassed a crucial 77-run partnership.

The debutant, Sarfaraz Khan, displayed promise, leaving fans eager to see his performance in the second innings.

Meanwhile, in front of his home crowd, Ravindra Jadeja delivered a stellar performance, scoring a magnificent century. At stumps on Day 1, he remained unbeaten at 110 runs, aiming to build on his impressive tally. Having missed the second game due to injury, Jadeja made a powerful comeback, delighting fans with his all-round prowess.

The Indian team is in a commanding position in the 3rd Test match on Day 1. India would aim to put up a huge first-innings total on the board and put England under the pump.
