The Australian team will be playing a crucial 3-match ODI series against India in the month of September, just before the World Cup. This will be a crucial series for both the teams with respect to the World Cup which is scheduled to start from October 5. According to the reports, Pat Cummins got a wrist injury during the last Ashes Test and will be unavailable for the entire ODI series against India.

A major setback has hit the Australian cricket team as reports surfaced suggesting that their captain, Pat Cummins, might miss the upcoming ODI series against India just ahead of the 2023 ODI World Cup scheduled to begin on October 5.

According to these reports, Cummins sustained a wrist injury on the opening day of the fifth and final Ashes 2023 Test but played through the pain during the entire game. Cricket Australia has not yet provided any update on the seriousness of his injury and hasn’t ruled out the possibility of a fracture. This potential absence of Cummins could significantly impact the team’s plans leading up to the 2023 World Cup.

Recently, Cummins took a break from cricket to be with his ailing mother during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023. However, he quickly returned to lead Australia to victory in the World Test Championship final against India and also participated in the Ashes 2023. The white-ball squad for the upcoming clashes against South Africa and India is yet to be announced, and if Cummins is unable to play, Mitchell Marsh is expected to take on the role of leading the Australian team.
