ICC T20 World Cup 2024 Schedule, Fixtures, And Groups Announced

The ICC T20 World Cup 2024 in the West Indies and the USA has released its official schedule. Kicking off on June 1st, the tournament’s opening match features the host team, USA, facing off against Canada in what promises to be an exciting start to the 9th edition of this thrilling T20I event.

ICC T20 World Cup 2024 Schedule, Fixtures, And Groups Announced

In Group A, India finds itself in the company of Pakistan, Ireland, and the host nations USA and Canada. Their T20 World Cup journey kicks off against Ireland on June 5th at Eisenhower Park in New York. The entirety of India’s league matches will unfold in the United States. The initial trio of league games will take place at New York’s Eisenhower Park, followed by a venture to Miami for a face-off against Canada.

The ninth edition of the T20 World Cup is set to kick off on June 1, 2024, in the West Indies and the USA, featuring an intense competition among 20 teams vying for the coveted trophy. The co-hosts, USA and Canada, will open the tournament in Dallas, with the highly anticipated India vs Pakistan clash scheduled for June 9 at Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in Long Island, New York.

The tournament will span 29 days across three venues in the USA and six in the Caribbean. A fresh format will be introduced, dividing the 20 teams into four groups of five teams each. Group A, hosted by the USA, includes India, Pakistan, Ireland, Canada, and the USA.

Defending champions England find themselves in Group B alongside Australia, Namibia, Scotland, and Oman. Co-hosts West Indies lead Group C, competing against New Zealand, Afghanistan, Uganda, and Papua New Guinea. Group D, unique in hosting matches both in the West Indies and the US, features Asian rivals Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, along with South Africa, Netherlands, and Nepal.

The top two teams from each group will advance to the Super Eights stage, where they will be divided into two groups of four. The Super 8 draw will be based on pre-tournament seedings, regardless of the teams’ group-stage performance. Notably, teams will have pre-assigned groups for the Super 8 stage at the start of the competition. The semifinals are scheduled for June 26 and 27 in Guyana and Trinidad & Tobago, respectively, with the grand finale set to take place on June 29 in Barbados.

The knockout rounds are set to unfold in the vibrant West Indies. On June 26th, the initial clash of the semi-finals is scheduled for Georgetown, Guyana. The excitement continues the next day with the second semi-final in the lively city of Port of Spain, Trinidad, on June 27th. The grand finale will then take center stage in Bridgetown, Barbados, on June 29th. Get ready for some thrilling cricket action in these iconic Caribbean locations!
