Jasprit Bumrah is making his comeback after almost a year of his injury and he has set the internet on fire with his breath-taking fierce bowling spell against Ireland in the first T20I on August 18.
Making a spectacular return to international cricket after a ten-month absence because of a serious back injury, Jasprit Bumrah demonstrated his prowess by grabbing two wickets in his very first over. This represented an exciting moment for India, as Bumrah also assumed the responsibility of the team’s 11th T20I captain during the initial match of the three-match T20I series against the host nation, Ireland.
The hype surrounding this series was high, as it served as Jasprit Bumrah’s comeback before the Asia Cup 2023. The opening act of his return was nothing short of sensational, as he easily dismissed Ireland’s opener and seasoned batsman, Andrew Balbirnie, with only his second ball. Following this, Bumrah proceeded to impress by capturing the wicket of the senior batsman and wicket-keeper Lorcan Tucker, who was caught by the watchful Sanju Samson, another wicket-keeper.
Acknowledging the rustiness that comes after an extended injury absence, Bumrah’s initial delivery went a tad too close to the leg side, allowing Balbirnie to score a boundary. However, Bumrah rapidly established his rhythm and precision. With the very next delivery, he executed a length delivery outside the off-stump, producing sharp movement off the pitch. This resulted in the ball catching the inner edge of Balbirnie’s bat and dislodging the bails above the stumps. In a space of three balls, Lorcan Tucker, still without a score, attempted a ramp shot but failed to connect properly, surrendering an effortless catch to Sanju Samson.
The scene that followed was one of ecstasy, as Jasprit Bumrah grinned with glee and the Indian fans rejoiced, both in the Dublin stadium and in the comfort of their homes.
