In a surprising move, Stuart Broad recently announced his retirement from Test cricket, catching his long-time friend James Anderson off guard. Despite the unexpected decision, Anderson has been nothing but supportive of his mate’s choice. On the fourth day of the fifth Test, something truly special happened – the two legendary cricketers stepped onto the field to bat together one last time. The crowd and even the Australian team warmly applauded the iconic duo as they made their way to the crease. Anderson fondly recalled the moment, emphasizing how fortunate he felt to be a part of their incredible journey.

Together, Broad and Anderson have accomplished a remarkable feat, amassing an impressive total of 1037 wickets in Test cricket. As the Ashes 2023 draws to a close, they aim to add a few more wickets to their tally, hoping to finish the series on equal terms. Anderson spoke openly about his strong bond with Broad, acknowledging that their achievements wouldn’t have been possible without the unwavering support they provided to each other throughout their careers.

“I was a little bit shocked when he told me but I’ve to respect his (Stuart Broad) decision. He was very clear on what he wants to do. Yesterday morning was really special, going to walk out with him on the field watching his last ball in Test match cricket for six. I thought the crowd was amazing, the ovation he got was incredible and I felt really lucky to be out there and experience it,” Anderson said while talking to Sky Sports.
