Mayank Yadav suffered an injury after his first over, during which he conceded 13 runs. Later, Yash Thakur, his teammate, provided an update on his fitness at the post-match press conference.

In his debut for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in IPL 2024, Mayank Yadav made quite an impact. He delivered outstanding performances against Punjab Kings and Royal Challengers Bengaluru, helping his team secure victories while defending targets. The right-arm pacer managed to take 3 wickets in each game with an impressive economy rate, earning him the Player of the Match award.

Meanwhile, Yash Thakur had a remarkable day with the ball, particularly against Gujarat. The young pacer from Vidarbha claimed his first five-wicket haul in the IPL, contributing significantly to Lucknow’s victory over the Gujarat Titans.

During the post-match press conference, Thakur provided an update on Mayank Yadav’s injury, shedding light on his condition.

“No nothing to worry, he is all good”, he said. “Mayank Yadav is an extra-ordinary player.  I believe the speed at which he bowls if like a god gift. I know my limitations and my strengths. So I back my strength,” Thakur said.

Yash Thakur shared that KL Rahul, captain of LSG, encouraged him to give his best performance in the match. Thakur mentioned that he particularly relished taking the wicket of GT captain Shubman Gill.

“Unfortunately Mayank Yadav got injured, so KL said it was my day and asked me to make the most of it. We are winning the first game against GT in IPL history, very happy with it. Really enjoyed Gill’s wicket, the most memorable of all”.

“Happy with this five-wicket haul and Man of the Match award. I had planned against Gill, I stuck to my plan, KL Rahul had advised me to do so and it paid off”, Yash Thakur further said.

Thakur’s stellar performance turned the tide in favor of his team, earning him the prestigious player of the match award. With this triumph, LSG secures their third win out of four matches. In contrast, the Gujarat Titans find themselves in 7th place after suffering three losses and securing two victories.
