In a historic victory, India secured the third Test with an impressive 434-run margin, marking a significant milestone for Ravichandran Ashwin. Despite not being the standout performer with the ball in this series, Ashwin reached the remarkable feat of 500 Test wickets, ultimately tallying 501 in his career.

Ashwin now stands as the second Indian bowler and the ninth globally to achieve this milestone, accomplishing the feat in fewer than 100 Tests. This notable achievement has drawn attention to the fact that, despite being a stalwart in the cricketing world, Ashwin may not have received the recognition he truly deserves. The former South African skipper AB de Villiers expressed the sentiment that Ashwin has been an unsung hero throughout his career.

Regarded as one of the premier red-ball bowlers, Ashwin has showcased his bowling prowess in diverse conditions, further solidifying his status as one of the best in the game.
