Indian fast bowler Jaydev Unadkat is all ready to compete in his debut game at the County Championship after signing with Sussex County Cricket Club.
Jaydev Unadkat is slated to be available for a minimum of three out of Sussex’s last four matches in the Championship under an arrangement. Anticipated to make his debut during Sussex’s meeting against Durham on September 3, the left-arm paceman may perhaps miss one game if he goes to India to lead Saurashtra in the Irani Cup, commencing on October 1. It’s worth remembering that Cheteshwar Pujara, the seasoned Indian batsman, has also joined Sussex, and Unadkat will soon rejoin his teammate.
Recently, Unadkat represented India in a multi-format series against the West Indies. While he participated in the two-match Test series, he wasn’t able to secure any wickets. However, he did contribute by taking a wicket in the only ODI he played against the West Indies.

Moreover, with the confirmation of Unadkat’s appointment, the 31-year-old declared his appreciation for Sussex. He indicated that he had been attentively studying Sussex’s recent developments, and after engaging in a conversation with head coach Paul Farbrace, Unadkat believed that he might play a significant role in guiding the side toward success in the future.
“I have been following the team’s recent run of success, and I had a nice conversation with Paul [Farbrace, Sussex head coach], and it looks like I can definitely add value and contribute towards the team’s goals. The English County Championship has a wonderful legacy, and I was keen to grab the opportunity whenever I could, and it seems to be the right time for me at this point in my career,” Unadkat was quoted as saying by ESPNcricinfo.
“I hope to add to the laurels that my dear friend and teammate, Cheteshwar, has been adding aplenty while representing Sussex for the last couple of seasons and, more importantly, helping the team win games,” he added.
