“I’m Not A Bollywood Actor..” - KKR Mentor Gautam Gambhir Reveals Why He Doesn’t Smile During The Match

Ravichandran Ashwin recently featured Gautam Gambhir, the mentor of Kolkata Knight Riders, on the final episode of his YouTube show, KuttiStoriesWithAsh. Gambhir, known for his charismatic yet fierce persona on the cricket field, made headlines once again with a bold statement.

Gambhir, who has always been intensely focused during matches, often drawing criticism from fans for his serious demeanor, remains just as passionate in his role as a mentor in the Indian Premier League.

Addressing the comments about his stern attitude, Gambhir told Ashwin that his purpose isn’t to entertain but to perfect his craft and contribute to a winning team. During their conversation on Ashwin’s show, he elaborated:

“You know, he doesn’t smile, he doesn’t laugh, he is always intense, he’s always grumpy, he’s always walking on the edge, he always has the game face on. People don’t come to watch me smile, they come to watch me win.”

“That’s the kind of profession we are in, I can’t help it. I’m not in entertainment, I’m not a Bollywood actor, not in corporate, I’m a cricketer. I’m into performing art. My job is that I want to come back in a winning dressing room.” – Gautam Gambhir said on Ashwin’s YouTube channel.

Gautam Gambhir mentioned that he has the right to stand up for his players and himself, and he will continue to do so. His main focus is to defeat the opposition.

“Unfortunately or fortunately, a winning dressing room is a happy dressing room a winning dressing room. And I have all the right to fight for myself, and for my teammates and do everything possible within the spirit of the game to try and beat the opposition that is all I have learned how to do and I will do till the last day of my life.” – Gambhir further said.

Gambhir’s return to KKR has been nothing short of extraordinary. His homecoming has significantly uplifted the entire team, propelling them straight to the top of the IPL points table with an impressive 19 points. This remarkable performance has made KKR the first team to qualify for the playoffs.

Despite their last two games being washed out, KKR is now set to face Sunrisers Hyderabad in Qualifier 1 of IPL 2024. The match will take place at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Tuesday, May 21.
