After his stellar batting performance against the Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League 2024, Nitish Kumar Reddy of SunRisers Hyderabad had some intriguing things to say. He described himself as a genuine all-rounder, eager to make an impact with both bat and ball.

In the thrilling match where SunRisers Hyderabad clinched victory by just one run at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Thursday, May 2, Nitish Kumar Reddy played a crucial role. His unbeaten knock of 76 runs off 42 balls helped SRH set a formidable total of 201 runs. Despite the early loss of Abhishek Sharma, the 20-year-old formed vital partnerships, notably a 96-run stand with Travis Head and an unbeaten 70-run partnership with Heinrich Klaasen.

One of the highlights of Nitish Kumar Reddy’s innings was his assault on Yuzvendra Chahal, whom he hammered for 20 runs in a single over. His innings included three boundaries and eight towering sixes, showcasing his prowess with the bat.

Nitish Kumar Reddy’s performance not only highlighted his batting skills but also underlined his potential as a genuine all-rounder for SunRisers Hyderabad in the IPL 2024 season.

During the post-match press conference, Nitish Kumar Reddy exuded confidence in his skills, proudly labeling himself as a ‘genuine all-rounder’. Reddy shared that he had been eagerly awaiting the chance to exhibit his batting prowess, despite facing limited opportunities last season.

“Actually last year also I was waiting for batting opportunity which I did not get but I did get to bowl. I am a genuine all-rounder who can bat, ball and field as well. So I am looking forward for the all-round performance. I was waiting for this batting opportunity since last year. This year management gave me a chance and I don’t want to throw it away,” Nitish said.

In the last IPL season, Nitish Kumar Reddy debuted for the Hyderabad-based squad. Hailing from Andhra Pradesh, this cricketer got his chance in two matches but didn’t get a turn to bat. Despite his efforts as a right-arm pacer, he couldn’t clinch any wickets and ended up conceding 10.80 runs per over.

Thanks to a recent win, the Hyderabad team climbed to the fourth spot in the points table. Out of the 10 matches they’ve played so far in the tournament, they’ve managed to secure victories in six of them.
