In the initial lineup for the IPL 2024 Auction, a whopping 1,166 players, hailing from India and various corners of the globe, threw their names into the ring. However, before the big day arrives on December 19 in Dubai, this extensive list is set to undergo some serious trimming, ultimately narrowing down to approximately 350 players who will be vying for attention and bids in the auction.

For the first time ever, the IPL auction is set to take place outside India, with the 10 franchises vying for a total of 77 available spots. Notably, the highest base price remains at INR 2 crore. Among the players, only four Indians—Harshal Patel, Kedar Jadhav, Shardul Thakur, and Umesh Yadav—have placed themselves in this top bracket. Interestingly, there’s a gap in the INR 1.5 crore and 1 crore categories for Indian players.

The IPL has furnished the franchises with a list of 1,166 players for the 2024 auction, including 830 Indians and 336 overseas players. The player pool comprises 212 capped, 909 uncapped, and 45 Associate players.

Surprisingly, Jofra Archer, a prominent overseas player, is absent from the IPL 2024 auction list due to his ongoing recovery from a significant injury. On the other hand, renowned World Cup-winning players like Josh Hazlewood, Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Steve Smith, Sean Abbott, and Travis Head find themselves in the 2 crore bracket, along with Harry Brook, Lockie Ferguson, and Gerald Coetzee.
