Shashank Singh emerged as the Punjab Kings’ savior during their IPL 2024 clash against the Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium. With a brilliant knock of 61 runs, he single-handedly turned the tide in favor of his team, securing a victory even when they seemed to be lagging far behind at one point in the match.

Following the auction for the 2024 edition of the Indian Premier League held in December 2023, Punjab Kings found themselves in an awkward situation as they apparently ended up selecting the wrong player, citing confusion over the name. However, the franchise clarified that their choice was deliberate, as they had intended to sign an uncapped batting all-rounder, Shashank Singh, who had remained unsold in the previous year’s auction after being released by Sunrisers Hyderabad.

For all of you who said Shashank Singh was a mistake from Punjab Kings to buy him at the auction! This one is for you 🙏🙏🙏#SaddaPunjab #PunjabKings #JazbaHaiPunjabi #TATAIPL2024 #GTvPBKS pic.twitter.com/cp37lCOXEH

Shashank put on a stellar show on the field, smashing an impressive 61 runs from just 29 balls. His innings was packed with six boundaries and four towering sixes, steering PBKS to victory with just one ball to spare. Ashutosh Sharma played his part too, chipping in with 31 runs off 17 deliveries. Together, they formed a formidable partnership, adding 43 runs in just 22 balls, significantly boosting PBKS’ chances of clinching the win, which they eventually did.

However, despite his remarkable performance, Shashank’s teammates seemed to overlook his milestone, not acknowledging his achievement even as he raised his bat. The incident was captured in a viral video, leaving former Indian player and commentator Aakash Chopra, who was commentating at the time, surprised by the team’s response.

Very worst not even the captain cheered for him. Even after winning they were not much celebrating much.

— Santhosh R (@santhosh_r92) April 5, 2024

Maybe not focusing his scores, they would've forgotten and low confidence whether team will win or not. But some person would've appreciate from the dugout so that others would've followed atleast. Senior player or coach would have done that first.

Gambhi likes such team.. He would hv scolded them of they celebrated one man's achievement in crucial Moment.. Lol

Jaaaaa tu franchise for a reason. The man who was by mistakenly brought by this team he literally took over them to a huge victory of a chase in 200 runs no one is even applauding him for his 50.

Thats why they dont have trophies. They themselves are literally confused
