In a thrilling cricket match, the West Indies emerged victorious against India for the second time in a row, marking the first time since 2015 that they have achieved this feat. With this win, the home team now leads the T20 series 2-0. Akeal Hosein and Alzarri Joseph shone brightly for the West Indies, while Nicholas Pooran played an exceptional innings with the bat.

Opting to bat first, India managed to score 152 for 7 in their allotted 20 overs. Unfortunately, the visitors got off to a shaky start as Shubman Gill (7) and Suryakumar Yadav (1) were dismissed early. However, Tilak Varma’s impressive knock of 51 off 41 balls steadied India’s innings. Later, Hardik Pandya (24 off 18) and Axar Patel (14 off 12) contributed some quick runs, and a late flourish from Ravi Bishnoi and Arshdeep Singh pushed India’s total beyond 150 runs.

During the chase, the West Indies lost two early wickets to the excellent bowling of India’s captain, Hardik Pandya, who removed Brandon King and Johnson Charles. Nevertheless, Nicholas Pooran’s brilliant 67 runs off just 40 balls kept the hosts in the game. However, when Pooran got out, the West Indies faced a significant setback, losing four wickets in just two runs.

With victory hanging in the balance, the West Indies relied on their tail-enders to guide them to a win, and Alzarri Joseph and Akeal Hosein stepped up to the challenge. The duo’s partnership of 26 runs for the 9th wicket secured a dramatic and thrilling victory for the Caribbean side.

The two teams will face off again on Tuesday (August 8) at the same venue for the 3rd match of the five-match series. For India, this match will be a must-win situation, as a defeat would mean losing the series.

T20I Series Loss To West Indies Should Be A Wake-up Call For India: Sunil Gavaskar

Salman Butt, the former cricketer for Pakistan, predicts that India's recent series defeat by the West Indies will have a negative impact on their confidence as they get ready for the important Asia Cup and the 2023 ODI World Cup. With a series loss of 2-3 against the West Indies, the Indian side suffered an eight-wicket loss in the fifth T20I. The former cricketer Salman Butt examined the matches in the lead-up to the important ODI competitions, starting with the Asia Cup on August 30. Salman Butt made a bold claim after analyzing the matches. His assertion that India's loss might negatively affect their confidence and their performance in forthcoming matches in the World Cup tournament. "It doesn't matter what the format is or who the opposition is. Winning does boost the side's confidence for their next assignment. Similarly, a defeat like this will surely dent India's confidence. You might not see it in the interviews, but you will see it in the body language and decision-making," Butt said on his YouTube channel. The team management decided to back up-and-coming players for the five-match series instead of veteran cricketers like Virat Kohli and skipper Rohit Sharma, including Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, and Mukesh Kumar. Butt underlined that the resurrected Indian squad, which included a number of youthful players, was unable to completely realize their potential during the tournament. Unfortunately, they had difficulties facing the West Indies team and had trouble getting good results. "Many would say that it was a T20I series, and several of India's top players were missing. But at the same time, this is India's normal practice. It wasn't the first time that a young side was picked. It also wasn't that West Indies are a very big team, and it was very difficult for India to beat them," he further added.
