IND vs WI, 2nd Test: In a two-match Test series contest India won the series 1-0 against the West Indies when the last Test at Queen’s Park Oval was drawn, with no play possible on the last day of the last Test match.
The second Test match between India and West Indies ended up in a draw where India clinched the series 1-0, the last day of play couldn’t happen due to rain without a single ball being bowled. India were 8 wickets away from winning this Test match, while West Indies were 289 runs away on day 5 to level the series, but the rain had some other plans.
India had their eyes on winning the series 2-0 and making solid remarks on this WTC cycle as well after their loss in the final against Australia in the previous cycle but rain robbed their plans of making a sweep.
This was also the ninth Test series win for India against the West Indies on their home ground. Which also saw a magnificent history made by India for the fastest Team 100 in Test cricket history in just 12.2 overs during the second innings of the Test.
Earlier in the game, the latest sensational duo of Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal provided a brilliant start by adding 139 runs for the first wicket.
Virat Kohli made his 500th International game a memorable one as he hit his 29th century in Test cricket, he scored a brilliant 121 in 206 balls and he became a bit unfortunate to lose his wicket through a run-out. Ravindra Jadeja (61) and R Ashwin (56) also contributed well.
Mohammad Siraj was awarded for his career-best Test bowling spell of 60/5 in the first innings that saw the West Indies team collapsing straight from 229/5 to 255 all out on the third day.
“I would rate my performance very high because it’s not easy to take five wickets on a flat wicket,” Siraj said during the post-match presentation.
“I had set a plan, especially when the ball started reverse-swinging, and I executed my line and length perfectly.” he further added.
India now holds the second position in the World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25 points table with 16 points and an impressive points percentage (PCT) of 66.67. In contrast, West Indies currently sits at fifth place with 4 points and a PCT of 16.67.
