Pakistan has revealed their lineup for the upcoming game against Bangladesh, and there’s an intriguing change. Mohammad Nawaz, who didn’t quite live up to expectations in the previous match against India, will be making way for Faheem Ashraf in the playing XI.
The first match of the Super 4 stage of Asia Cup 2023 will be played between Babar Azam-led side and Shakib Al Hasan-led Bangladesh Cricket Team at the Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore, on September 06.
After a thrilling victory against Nepal and a rain-affected encounter against India, Pakistan has won a spot in the Super Four stage of the ongoing Asia Cup 2023. Their first encounter in this stage is against Bangladesh, who had a stunning showing in their last game against Afghanistan. Centuries by Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Najmul Hossain Shanto, together with Taskin Ahmed’s four-wicket haul, make it apparent that this won’t be an easy challenge for Babar Azam’s team.
Interestingly, The Men In Green have decided to alter their playing XI for the upcoming match against Bangladesh. In this adjustment, they’ve brought in the versatile fast bowler and all-rounder, Faheem Ashraf, while spin-bowling all-rounder Mohammad Nawaz steps aside.
Faheem Ashraf, with 32 ODIs under his belt and 25 wickets to his name, is noted for his economical bowling and his ability to contribute with the bat if needed. If he plays well, he could seal his position in the team for the key match against India and even in the 2019 ODI World Cup.
Pakistan’s fast bowlers, particularly Shaheen Shah Afridi and Haris Rauf, have been impressive in the tournament so far. They demolished India’s top order in the previous encounter, and Naseem Shah has also made an impression. In the spin department, Shadab Khan made a great performance against Nepal and will be eager to reproduce it against Bangladesh.
When it comes to batting, Babar Azam and Iftikhar Ahmed have been the standout performances. Both of them scored a century against Nepal and are bursting with confidence. Imam-ul-Haq is also in terrific form in ODI cricket and may be a potent force. The main concern is Fakhar Zaman’s recent record, as he has managed just 73 runs in his last four innings.
Pakistan’s Playing XI For Bangladesh Clash:
Fakhar Zaman, Imam-ul-Haq, Babar Azam (c), Salman Ali Agha, Iftikhar Ahmed, Mohammad Rizwan (wk), Shadab Khan (vc), Faheem Ashraf, Naseem Shah, Shaheen Afridi, Haris Rauf
