Devoted fans who had been anxiously anticipating the duel between Virat Kohli and Naveen-ul-Haq during the upcoming Asia Cup 2023 faced a depressing blow on Sunday. The right-arm speedster failed to gain a position in Afghanistan’s 17-man roster for the competition.

It’s crucial to keep in mind that Naveen-ul-Haq has been gone from Afghanistan’s ODI team for nearly 2 years now. His outings in this format have been restricted to just 7 matches, during which he managed to collect 14 wickets, having an average of 25.42.

The day after being left out of the Afghanistan squad for the Asia Cup 2023, Naveen-ul-Haq turned to his social media and posted a cryptic post. Despite having been actively participating in franchise cricket globally, it’s apparent that being excluded from the Asia Cup team has taken a toll on his spirits.

Speaking of the Afghanistan squad, aside Naveen-ul-Haq, Shahidullah Kamal, and Wafadar Momand, there would be a few more absent from the roster. The Afghanistan team is likely to exhibit a formidable spin assault with players like Rashid Khan, Mohammed Nabi, Noor Ahmed, and Mujeeb ur Rahman. Shifting our focus to the fast-bowling department, Fazalhaq Farooqi will be at the forefront of the pace attack. He will be joined by former captain Gulbadin Naib, along with Janat, Abdul Rahman, and Mohammad Saleem.

Virat Kohli vs Naveen-ul-Haq Controversy in IPL 2023:

During an IPL 2023 match between Lucknow Super Giants and Royal Challengers Bangalore at Lucknow’s Ekana Stadium, things took an unpleasant turn as Virat Kohli and Naveen engaged in a heated verbal exchange. The tension didn’t subside with the match’s end, as LSG mentor Gautam Gambhir stepped in to mediate but ended up exchanging words with Kohli himself. The aftermath saw all three individuals facing hefty fines for their actions. Despite fans’ anticipation for another showdown between Virat and Naveen, the Afghan bowler’s name was missing from the Asia Cup squad, raising eyebrows.
