After a long hiatus due to several ailments, KL Rahul returned to the Indian side for their Super Fours match of the 2023 Asia Cup against their arch-rival Pakistan. Concerns were lingering over Rahul’s fitness going up to the competition, especially given he hadn’t played since IPL 2023. In fact, shortly before the key ODI World Cup 2023, various analysts and former cricketers had voiced reservations over his selection.

However, KL Rahul delivered a tremendous comeback knock, silencing all his doubters and eliminating any worries about his form. In the company of Virat Kohli, he demonstrated his skills, helping India score a formidable total of 356/2. Their partnership was nothing short of sensational, with both batsmen notching stunning hundreds. Together, they created an unbroken 233-run alliance for the third wicket, ensuring India’s score reached 356 runs in their allotted 50 overs.

Virat Kohli finished the innings in style, slamming three successive boundaries, including a six off the penultimate ball bowled by Faheem Ashraf. Kohli’s amazing effort amassed 122* runs from 94 deliveries, while Rahul remained undefeated with a stunning 111 runs from 106 balls.
