Rohit Sharma showcased his humorous side during the fifth Test against England at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala. Despite India already securing the series victory, Sharma continued to exhibit top-notch leadership on the field. From strategic bowling changes to keeping the opposition under pressure, he demonstrated his cricketing acumen.

In the ongoing game, Kuldeep Yadav shone with the ball, achieving his fourth five-wicket haul, finishing with figures of 5/72. Amidst the action-packed day, a comical incident unfolded during the second session. On the second ball of the 27th over, Zak Crawley’s edge down the leg side proved challenging for Dhruv Jurel, who failed to secure the catch. However, Sarfaraz displayed quick thinking and grabbed the ball with a brilliant diving catch.

Confident in his catch, Sarfaraz appealed to the umpire for a caught dismissal. Surprisingly, the on-field umpire remained unmoved, prompting Sarfaraz and Shubman Gill to request a review from captain Rohit. However, Rohit Sharma, not entirely convinced, denied the appeal, trusting Jurel’s uncertainty.

His innings came to an end in the 38th over when Kuldeep Yadav dismantled his stumps. Ashwin played a pivotal role, claiming 4 wickets for 51 runs and efficiently wrapping up the tail, restricting England to a total of 218.

In response, India kickstarted their innings with an impressive opening partnership. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma contributed significantly, adding 104 runs for the first wicket in 124 balls. The breakthrough for the opposing team came in the 21st over, courtesy of Shoaib Bashir, who successfully stumped Jaiswal.
