India’s batting performance was truly remarkable, and it was led by the captain, Rohit Sharma, who played a pivotal role with an explosive 56 runs from 49 balls. He partnered brilliantly with Shubman Gill, who contributed a solid 58 runs from 52 balls. Virat Kohli’s unbeaten 122 and KL Rahul’s impressive 111 runs powered India to an outstanding total of 356 for the loss of only two wickets in their allotted 50 overs.

In contrast, Pakistan faced a daunting task in their chase, and the Indian bowlers certainly didn’t make it any easier for them. The standout bowler was Kuldeep Yadav, who proved to be the star of the show by taking five crucial wickets while conceding just 25 runs. Jasprit Bumrah, Shardul Thakur, and Hardik Pandya provided valuable support, each securing a wicket and creating relentless pressure on the Pakistani batsmen.

Pakistan could only muster a total of 128 runs in 32 overs, getting all-out in the process, as they struggled against the formidable Indian bowling unit. This day will be remembered as one where India’s batsmen and bowlers worked together in perfect harmony, creating a memorable chapter in the history of cricket.

Rohit Sharma, the captain of the Indian cricket team, extended his heartfelt appreciation to the ground staff for their unwavering commitment in preparing the cricket pitch, even in the face of adverse weather conditions. He underlined the significance of providing valuable playing opportunities to the squad, particularly for those players who haven’t had much recent time on the field.

“We just wanted to get out on the park to get some game time. A lot of guys haven’t had that. That could only happen thanks to a great effort from the groundsmen. I know how tough it is to cover and remove covers from the whole ground. On behalf of the entire team, we would like to thank them.”

“(On batting) Fantastic performance, right from yesterday. When we started, we knew the wicket was good and we had to adjust to the rain. The two experienced guys, we knew, would take time to get their eye in, and then we could get going.” said Rohit after the match.

‘’I am always prepared to help the team in different ways,’’ says Virat Kohli

Virat Kohli’s outstanding undefeated innings of 122 earned him the well-deserved honor of Player of the Match. He highlighted his dedication to supporting the squad in varied ways and took a minute to reflect on his collaboration with KL Rahul. Kohli focused on his tactics, emphasizing the necessity of alternating strikes and capitalizing on the easier scoring possibilities. He also praised his approach to the game and its good impact on Indian cricket.

Moreover, he went into difficulties playing again the following day, especially in the scorching and humid conditions, underlining the crucial necessity for sufficient recovery.

“I was going to ask you to keep the interview short; I’m very tired. I’m always prepared to help the team in different ways. Today, KL got off to a great start, and my job was just to rotate strikes. I take a lot of pride in trying to push for easy runs; pushing for a double is as easy as they come.”

“ I was pushing for those runs and happy for them, but I was thinking I needed to play at 3 p.m. tomorrow. Luckily, we are test players. I’ve played over 100 tests, so I know how to come back and play the next day. It was really humid out there. I’m 35 in November, so I need to be taking care of that recovery as well. A big shout out to the grounds-men from my side; I think they did a fabulous job.” said Virat at the post-match presentation
