India is gearing up to host the 13th edition of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.  Notably, this marks the first instance where India is hosting the entire tournament independently. The mega event is scheduled to commence with a clash between the finalists of the previous edition on October 5th. The opening match will witness England and New Zealand facing off in Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the updated schedule of the upcoming Cricket World Cup. The highly-anticipated contest between India and Pakistan at the ODI World Cup 2023 has been rescheduled to October 14, previously it was on October 15.

India has a fantastic chance to end their trophy drought at home, comparable to their triumph in 2011 under the leadership of Captain MS Dhoni. But after winning the World Cup, a number of veteran players made the decision to stop playing in the 50-over format. Currently, after the conclusion of the forthcoming World Cup, a select group of seasoned players are anticipated to say goodbye to ODI cricket.

Here in this article, we are going to talk about three Team India players who might get retire from the One-day Internationals after the World Cup 2023:

Ravichandran Ashwin, a well-known player who is not currently included in India’s ODI plans, is at the top of our list. This seasoned off-spinner has played in only a little amount of white-ball cricket, but he is still a reliable player in tests. Despite his talent, the squad has chosen other players for these positions, like Kuldeep Yadav, Ravindra Jadeja, Yuzvendra Chahal, and Ravi Bishnoi. Consequently, Ashwin hasn’t had many opportunities.

The 36-year-old’s limited opportunities in this format suggest that he may decide to call it quits in ODI cricket after the 2023 Cricket World Cup. In 111 innings throughout the span of his ODI career, he has taken 151 wickets.

Shikhar Dhawan:

One of the other Indian cricketers who may retire from ODIs is veteran opener, Shikhar Dhawan. The management has moved on to younger players, therefore the 37-year-old is no longer a member of the Indian team. Dhawan’s final ODI game was against Bangladesh in December 2022. The experienced opener will likely call it quits in the ODIs, or rather, in his international career, given the lack of opportunities for him. Despite having some astounding stats at the top, Dhawan. He has accumulated 6793 runs at a 44.11 average in 167 ODIs, with 17 centuries and 37 half-centuries.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar:

In a position similar to Dhawan’s, veteran Indian fast bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar is also having trouble finding a place in the Indian team. Kumar suffered a similar fate after the 2022 T20 World Cup when the Indian selectors decided not to play him in white-ball cricket. He was India’s dependable go-to bowler in the past, but recent events haven’t given him many chances to demonstrate his abilities.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar has made a significant impact, playing in 121 One Day Internationals (ODIs) and taking an outstanding 141 wickets. Sadly, it appears unlikely that he will be selected for the 2023 World Cup team. His potential retirement after the 2023 Cricket World Cup is raised by this circumstance.
